2010 LP Summit Tournament Program available for viewing and download

 

The 2010 program is done and available for viewing or download. The file can be located under the RULES & FORMS tab on the home page. Select any Division and you will see the '2010 Lacrosse Program' link. As always, we will have hard copies available throughout the tournament. One small note, due to the inadequacy of Team Jagermeister, the Masters Division 1 schedule has been printed incorrectly in the program. Please refer to the uploaded schedule within the Master's 1 division if this pertains to you. ENJOY!

 

Team Jagermeister Withdraws, Masters Division I Schedule Revised & Master Schedule Uploaded


Masters Division I Schedule Revised: Due to the withdraw of Jagermeister, we had to re-work the Masters I schedule to accommodate 11 teams. Thankfully, the schedule remains similar to the original schedule with only a few minor changes. Please review the revised schedule carefully. 

 

Master Schedule Uploaded: The master schedule for the tournament showing all games on all fields has now been uploaded. The PDF is located right below your specific divisions schedule. 

 

July 13, 2010 Update: GM II schedule revised; Roster & Insurance Reminders

 

GM II Schedule Revised: The Men's Grand Masters Division II schedule has been changed as the result of a team withdrawal. The 9-team schedule remains similar to the original schedule but the start time for the first game might be changed to an earlier time on Thursday, August 5. Please review the revised schedule carefully.

 

Roster Reminder: The official tournament roster can be downloaded by clicking on the Rules & Forms tab above. Click on the division you are playing in and you can access the tournament roster form. There are different forms for the adult and scholastic divisions so please be sure to download the correct form for your team. The form is an Excel spreadsheet that can be completed and sent electronically to info@lakeplacidlax.com in advance of August 2, 2010. All teams are required to bring two hard copies of their final roster to check-in at least one hour before your first game.

 

Insurance Reminder: Although Lake Placid Lacrosse supports and encourages membership in US Lacrosse, it is not a requirement of the tournament. A portion of each team's registration fee is used to buy a tournament insurance policy. Team contacts are reminded that fully completed roster forms are required for any team member to make an insurance claim.

 

July 12, 2010 Update: Schedules Revised in SGM, GM I, GM II, U-18 Girls and Masters II

 

Revised schedules have been posted for the the following divisions:

 

  • SGM: Corrected seeding affecting all three groups.
  • U-18 Girls: certain games have been scheduled back to back to provide more time away from the fields to enjoy the local sights
  • Grand Masters II: Game 618 field location corrected
  • Grand Masters I: Contestants changed in Games 501, 508 and 510.
  • Masters II: Corrected seeding errors for 10th, 11th and 12th seeds affecting games 401, 403, 404, 405, 407 and 411.

 

July 5, 2010 Update: Draft Schedules and Award Nomination Forms Have Been Uploaded

 

2010 Draft Tournament Schedules: The draft schedules for all divisions have been posted. Please review the draft schedules carefully and let us know if you have any questions. The schedules in Men's Masters and Grand Masters are a little different this year in that some teams will play their first game on Friday morning. You will see that we are using four sites in 2010 including the North Elba Athletic Fields, the Lake Placid Athletic Fields, Northwood School, and the Bark Eater Inn is back! 

 

2010 Tournament Awards Nomination Forms: Is there someone you would like to nominate for a tournament award? Just click on the Rules & Forms tab at the top of the page and click on any division to download the nomination form. The form includes a description of each award and a form that can be completed and submitted to info@lakeplacidlax.com by Monday, August 2, 2010. The award recipients will be recognized at a reception to be held Friday, August 6, 2010 at 7:30 PM (see description below).

 

June 25, 2010 Update: Part-time Employment Opportunities; Free Agent Scholastic Players Welcome; Awards Reception to be held August 6

 

Tournament Employment: There are several part-time employment opportunities available during the 2010 tournament. An employment application can be downloaded by clicking on the Rules & Forms tab and then click on any division to download the employment application. Any questions regarding employment opportunities can be directed to Rich Gross at 518-527-8502 or Mark Snyder at 518-524-7754. Lake Placid Lacrosse is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

 

Free Agents Welcome: There are a couple of scholastic teams that can use a few free agent players especially in Girls U-18. Interested players should contact info@lakeplacidlax.com and we will reach out to the teams on your behalf. The scholastic division begins on Monday, August 2 and concludes on Wednesday, August 4.

 

Inaugural Awards Reception to be held Friday August 6, presented by US Lacrosse: The tournament annually recognizes participants in honor of several individuals who left an indelible mark on the Summit. With the support of US Lacrosse, we will for the first time in 2010 present all the tournament awards at a reception to be held on Friday, August 6 at 7:30 PM at the large pavilion at the Lake Placid Horse Show Grounds. Admission is free and donations will be accepted at the door to support Lacrosse the Nations, a humanitarian organization that uses lacrosse to assist impoverished youth around the world. Nomination forms for the 2010 awards will be posted on the web site in early July.

 

 

June 1, 2010 Registration Update: Roster Forms Uploaded

 

Roster forms for both the scholastic and adult divisions have been uploaded to the web site. To access the roster form, click on the rules and forms tab above and then click on the appropriate division of competition and the form will be listed. The roster form is read-only so it should be downloaded and saved with a different name to become functional. The completed form, which is an Excel Workbook, should be e-mailed to info@lakeplacidlax.com no later than July 30, 2010. Two hard copies of the final roster form must be submitted prior to a team's first game.

WomensLax.com, Brine & Lake Placid Lacrosse Announce the 2011 ‘Northstar Invitational’

The Nation’s top rising sophomores and juniors will be selected from each region across the country to showcase their talent to college coaches

May 18, 2010: WomensLax.com, Brine Lacrosse, and Lake Placid Lacrosse have partnered to host the Inaugural ‘Northstar Invitational’, July 11-15, 2011, in Lake Placid, New York. The invitational recruiting camp will offer sessions for rising sophomores and juniors. The rising sophomore session will run from July 11-13th, and the rising junior session from July 13-15th.

The Northstar Invitational will offer 150 lacrosse players the opportunity to represent their region and showcase their talent to college coaches through speed/agility measurements, skill sessions, and full field games. Players will be coached in practice and game sessions by top College Coaches from Divisions I, II, and III. College coaches will have ample opportunity to observe and evaluate camp participants, as current college players will serve as counselors during practice and game sessions.

The Northeast, Atlantic, Southern, Midwest, and Western regions will all be represented to comprise a national and select talent pool. Coach recommendations will be solicited and required for participation. The Northstar Invitational will collect the nation’s top lacrosse prospects who are prepared to showcase their talent and potential to compete at the collegiate level.

“We are very excited to host the inaugural Northstar Invitational camp as it will provide an ideal format for high school prospects to compete at the highest level, showcase their talents, and interact with college coaches in a camp setting”, said WomensLax.com president Ashley Gersuk. Town of North Elba Supervisor, Roby Politi, welcomed news of the Northstar Invitational: “we have enjoyed our long-standing relationship with Lake Placid Lacrosse and are proud of the investments we have made to provide quality facilities and an unmatched atmosphere for celebration of this rapidly growing sport”, said Politi.

REGISTRATION UPDATE, MAY 13, 2010

All Tournament Spots Accounted For, Record Number of Teams to Compete!

The tournament is quickly approaching capacity and several teams have been added from the wait list. There are still some open details with a handful of teams so additional invitations might still be going out to wait listed teams. We will continue to add teams to the wait list upon request.

 

There are currently 138 teams registered for the 2010 Summit, playing in twelve divisions of competition, both of which are  new tournament records. Thanks to all who have helped us grow from a total field of seven teams in 1990!

Thanks to all who made our 20th anniversary event so special. To all 117 teams and their players and families, thanks for providing such an entertaining week of lacrosse. A special thanks goes out to our team of directors who run the event including Mike DeRossi, Mark Snyder, John Morgan, Anthony Ortolano, Rich Gross, Andrea Lister, Tom Pillsworth, Bucky Hayes, Rick Nelson, and Keith Maynard. We really enjoyed having John Jiloty from Inside Lacrosse at the tournament and the publicity it provided. A special thanks goes out to North Elba Supervisor Roby Politi and his team for creating a venue for lacrosse that is second to none. And, thanks to Northwood School and the Lake Placid Central Schools for making fields available for our use. Finally, thanks to our sponsor Warrior Brine for providing such tremendous support to the event. We look forward to seeing everyone in 2010!

SIX CHAMPIONS CROWNED AT FINAL DAY OF SUMMIT!

Six divisional champions were determined during Sunday's final day of competition. The clear highlight of the day was the Masters Division I (31-over) championship between Burnt Orange and Rusty Red. Rusty Red took it's firth tournament title 12-10 behind Lindsay Dixon's four goals. In Men's Open Division I, Graph Tex rode MVP Jake Plunkett's performance at both ends of the field to win its sixth tournament title with a 14-8 win over Power Tek. In the Women's Open Division, Graph Tex won its first tournament title behind four goals from Halle Quillinan and defeated two time defending champion Laxified 14-5. In Men's Open Division II, Team Bud won its third Summit title over the Roadhawks 11-9 behind MVP Ari Sussman. Men's Masters II (38-over) saw two Long Island teams battle it out with Checkmate defeating Long Island Lacrosse Unlimited 7-6 behind MVP Mike Swift. Team Harley won the Men's Grand Masters Division I (45-over) with an 11-5 win over Atlantic Sportswear. Paul Thomas was named MVP of the championship game.   

 

OWU LEGENDS WIN MEN'S GRAND MASTERS DIVISION II (August 8)

OWU Legends won its first championship in Lake Placid defeating Canistigione Crabmen by a 9-6 score. Bob Liegner's outstanding play in goal earned him the championship game MVP award. Capitaland defeated the Old Dogs 11-4 to take third place.

 

CLOUD SPLITTER WINS THIRD STRAIGHT SUPER GRAND MASTERS TITLE (August 7)

Cloud Splitter continued its dominance of the 52-over Super Grand Masters Division with an 8-3 win over the Ultra Legends. Yielding a total of only four goals in four games, the Splitters also featured a high powered offense that put 40 goals on the board. Lee Murphy was named MVP and the Legend's Pete Bence received the sporstmanship award. OldeWU Legends defeated USA Stars 4-3 to take third place.  

 

 
GREENE TURTLE AND FCA ROCHESTER GOLD CAPTURE INAUGURAL SCHOLASTIC CHAMPIONSHIPS

Greene Turtle defeated Albany Power Gold 13-4 to win the U-15 Boy's Scholastic Division.Third place went to Team Anne Arundel who defeated Team Chil-Lax Wear 10-0. In the U-18 Boys Division, FCA Rochester Gold defeated IAS/Com Lax 11-4 to take first place. Third place went to Shoreham Wading River who defeated Albany Power 4 -1.
