Looking for something fun to do off of the field in Lake Placid? USA Today called The Wild Center the thing 'not to miss' on a visit to LP. The Center also got rave reviews from The Wall Street Journal and New York Times. It's open seven days a week and a great family outing. The Center was designed by the same firm that did the Air & Space Museum in Washington, and it shows. There are high def films, live animals everywhere you look, including river otters, and on top of the 54,000 square foot museum itself, there are 31 acres of trails and outdoor exhibits. If you're interested in green building, this is a show place. It was the first LEED certified museum in NY, and everything from its plant-growing roof to the big curving solar array and grass parking lot are labeled and on display.
