Larry Piatelli passed away suddenly in 2003 while playing his favorite sport, ice hockey. Larry was also an accomplished lacrosse official who graced the fields of Lake Placid with his presence for many years. The Larry Piatelli Award will be presented annually by the Men's Officials to that tournament official whose work ethic, dedication and enthusiasm, sportsmanship, leadership, friendliness, competitive spirit and heart most closely resemble teh outstanding qualitities of Larry Piatelli.
The 2009 Piatelli Award winner was Lee Weiser. A New York City native, Lee played football and lacrosse at Colby College. Lee served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. He earned an MBA at Harvard, when he first became a lacrosse official. In 1978, Lee moved to Saratoga Springs, NY and opened the first of several Frame Of Mind stores, which he still owns and operates today. He was taught Business at Siena College and serves on the Board of several community organizations. He is a founding member of Friends of Athletes at Skidmore College. Lee joined the CDLOA in 1979 and recently completed 20 years of exemplary service to the sport of boys lacrosse in the Capital District. He resides in Saratoga Springs with his wife Donna, and their daughter Caroline.
